What is the International Oraganization of Nutritional Consultants?

The IONC is a voluntary, non-profit, incorporated organization. It was founded in 1983 to create public awareness about holistic nutritional consulting and to regulate the standards of education for holistic nutritional consultants. Qualifications for those who apply for professional membership as RNCPs are independently assessed.

Professional members of IONC are those who have met its strict educational and ethical standards. They are granted exclusive use of the title, “Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner” (RNCP).

By law, anyone may call themselves a nutritional counsellor, but only those who have thoroughly studied nutrition and have met the requirements of IONC are granted the RNCP or NCP designation.

Many RNCPs complement their nutritional counselling practice with various other therapies such as herbal medicine, homeopathy, and dietary supplements. They network with other complementary health professionals and make referrals when necessary.
